As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming experience under my belt, I must say that The Axis Unseen by Nate Purkeypile has piqued my interest. Having grown up with Skyrim and its ilk, it’s intriguing to see what the former Skyrim developer has in store for us.
In simple terms, “The Axis Unseen” is an open-world archery hunting game created by ex-developer of Skyrim, Nate Purkeypile. The game’s main emphasis is on the hunting experience.
Who is Nate Purkeypile?
For approximately two decades, game developer Nate Purkeypile, renowned for creating ‘The Axis Unseen’, has consistently poured his enthusiasm into his work.
He’s worked on widely known and well-received games such as Skyrim, Fallout 3, 4, and 76, Starfield, Metroid Prime 3 and BloodRayne 2. So there’s high hopes that this one will be successful either!
What is The Axis Unseen?
In “The Axis Unseen,” your character assumes the role of a huntman, pursuing an array of mythical beasts that dwell within its world. However, slaying these creatures isn’t simply a matter of repeatedly striking them until they perish, as is often the case in other games. Instead, you must employ strategy and skill to outwit your elusive targets and bring them down.
In “The Axis Unseen,” it’s crucial to tread lightly, as the creatures are adept at sensing your proximity through subtle cues such as wind patterns or sounds. To approach them undetected, one must employ strategic stealth.
Additionally, you can’t simply stumble upon a monster; you need to actively search for them by watching for signs such as footprints or blood trails. It’s quite thrilling!
Absolutely, you’re never without your tools of trade. You carry a mystical bow, which houses an assortment of enchanted arrows. Ranging from flaming arrows to those that slow down monstrous creatures, there’s nothing out of place. The magical properties can even be combined for added effect.
It appears you’re the only one here now, but there are traces left by previous explorers or hunters. This game seems to be rich in backstory too.
One distinctive feature of The Axis Unseen is undeniably its innovative soundtrack and Heads-Up Display (HUD). Unlike typical games where essential data such as noise levels, wind strength, and other crucial gameplay information appear in the screen’s corner, this game presents that information directly on your character’s hands and equipment.
The music track, as stated earlier, stands out quite remarkably due to the fact that composer Clifford Meyer was given the liberty to make it quite intense. Taking Nate Purkeypile’s words that The Axis Unseen would be set in a “heavy metal horror” universe literally, Meyer did just that. The soundtrack is powerfully impactful.
