As a seasoned gamer of the thrilling world of crime-solving mysteries and a dedicated fan of Only Murders in the Building since its inception, I must say that this Season 4 Episode 9, “Escape from Planet Klongo,” was an absolute rollercoaster ride! The reveal about Sazz’s protege had me on the edge of my seat.
In the ninth episode of Season 4, entitled “Escape from Planet Klongo,” there was a significant unveiling concerning the enigma behind Sazz Pataki’s murder, which serves as the main mystery this season. Who is Sazz’s apprentice? Did Marshall possibly take Sazz’s life?
Here is a recap of Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 9, answering all your questions.
Who is Sazz’s protege at the end of Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 9?
Sazz Pataki’s protégé goes by the name Marshall when working as a screenwriter for the film adaption of “Only Murders in the Building.” In reality, his name is Rex Bailey.
I, along with Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, initially assumed that Glen Stubbins was Sazz Pataki’s apprentice. However, our assumptions were shattered when we encountered a bartender as we left the hospital. This individual revealed to us that not only was Glen not Sazz’s apprentice, but he was one of the three individuals who knew the identity of her murderer – the other two being Sazz herself and renowned film director Ron Howard.
Later, the three decide to arrange a meeting with director Ron Howard, aiming to learn more about the truth. Eventually, Howard encounters Charles and Oliver at the former’s preferred Chinese restaurant, where he discloses the truth about Rex/Marshall being Sazz’s apprentice upon showing them a photograph.
At Mabel’s residence, where she first encounters Marshall, she begins to unravel his real persona when she stumbles upon a beer box containing a screenplay for “Only Murders in the Building” with Sazz’s name on it. This discovery coincides with Charles sending her information he obtained from Howard.
Did Marshall kill Sazz in Only Murders in the Building Season 4?
As a dedicated fan, I can’t say for certain that Marshall was the one who ended Sazz’s life in Only Murders in the Building Season 4. The truth is still shrouded in mystery.
Instead, the look on his face when Mabel questioned him regarding the script discovered within the beer box seems to suggest that he might possess information about Sazz’s murder or even potentially be the perpetrator himself.
Only Murders in the Building is currently streaming on Hulu.
