As a die-hard fan of Christmas movies and Chad Michael Murray, I can hardly contain my excitement for Netflix’s upcoming release, “The Merry Gentlemen.” With a tantalizing blend of holiday cheer, dance numbers, and a dash of Magic Mike flavor, this film promises to be the perfect concoction to ignite the festive spirit.
This upcoming holiday season, Netflix could be ramping up the warmth in contrast to the dropping temperatures, as they’re releasing a brand-new Christmas movie that blends the charm of Hallmark films with the allure of Magic Mike.
This fall, one of the upcoming holiday movies on Netflix is titled “The Merry Gentlemen“. Starring former cast member of “One Tree Hill”, Chad Michael Murray, it seems that we’re in store for a festive and cheerful Christmas season based on the recently unveiled photos from Netflix.
In a fresh spin, the latest movie focuses on Ashley (Britt Robertson), a former city dancer, who endeavors to rescue her parents’ small-town dance hall, the Rhythm Room, by organizing an all-male Christmas production called The Merry Gentlemen Show. Among those Ashley recruits for this venture is Luke, portrayed by Murray, a regular helper at the Rhythm Room, who surprisingly takes on this role for the first time. The performance culminates in various dance routines showcasing several muscular cowboys without shirts, with Luke being one of them and contributing to the success of The Merry Gentlemen Show.
Murray shared with Tudum that we need to introduce some freshness and challenge conventional boundaries with the movie’s unusual storyline. He cleverly subverts many typical elements found in this genre by humorously poking fun at them in an elegant manner.
As a die-hard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement! Though we won’t be able to watch the film until November 20, Netflix has graciously given us an early Christmas gift – a sneak peek at the upcoming release! Among other tantalizing glimpses, they’ve shared some photos of Murray’s character, Luke, strutting his stuff as part of The Merry Gentlemen show. I can hardly wait to see more!
From the images, it’s clear that dancing is an integral part of the show. Ashley has chosen to incorporate her dance abilities and choreography into her strategy for saving the Rhythm Room. To make things even more exciting, she’s combining these skills with some attractive male dancers and holiday festivities. This could very well be akin to a special edition of “Magic Mike” for our enjoyment.
And before you ask, yes, you can expect Murray to show off his dancing skills in the film!
“It was something that I’d never done. I said, ‘Oh, this scares the crap out of me. I’ve got to do this.” I made a bunch of phone calls and said, ‘Let’s get in as much rehearsal time as possible,’’ Murray teased to Tudum. “If you’re going to do it, you got to do it right. You got to go all in. All the guys were awesome. There was definitely a bond there. Everybody just helped each other up. And everyone else had a different gift to give to the film.”
We’re absolutely intrigued by what Netflix has in store for us, and we can hardly contain our excitement as we look forward to settling down with a steaming cup of hot cocoa to watch “The Merry Gentlemen” when it debuts on Netflix on November 20!
