Netflix is bringing on three new actors for key roles in the upcoming Season 2 of “One Piece,” with Rigo Sanchez (known from “Outerbanks”) set to play Luffy’s enigmatic father, Monkey D. Dragon, a character who leads the Revolutionary Army in the original manga series.
Who else is joining the One Piece Season 2 cast?
In addition to Sanchez, Yonda Thomas (Redemption) and James Hiroyuki Liao (Presumed Innocent) have been added to the cast list for One Piece Season 2. Specifically, Yonda Thomas will play Igaram, a loyal guard who accompanied Princess Vivi during an undercover mission in the original manga and anime. On the other hand, James Hiroyuki Liao is set to portray Ipponmatsu, an arms shop owner who will provide Zoro with new swords when he appears during the Loguetown arc.
In this new version based on Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga, Iñaki Godoy portrays Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu takes on Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd steps into Nami’s role, Jacob Romero Gibson plays Usopp, and Taz Skylar embodies Sanji. The series is overseen by Steven Maeda (known for The X-Files) as writer and executive producer, while Matt Owens (Agents of SHIELD) serves in the same roles. For Season 2, Owens and Joe Tracz will serve as showrunners.
In the upcoming Season 2, the Straw Hat crew will embark on their perilous journey into the treacherous and bizarre waters of the Grand Line. This season promises to introduce a host of new characters, such as Joe Manganiello portraying Crocodile/Mr. 0, Lera Abova bringing Miss All Sunday/ Nico Robin to life, Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday/ Princess Vivi, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra, Katey Sagal voicing Dr. Kureha, David Dastmalchian playing Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn depicting Miss Valentine, Daniel Lasker representing Mr. 9, Werner Coetser embodying Dorry, Brendan Murray portraying Brogy, Clive Russell voicing Crocus, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Julia Rehwald playing Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, Ty Keogh as Dalton, Mark Harelik as Dr. Hiriluk, and many more.
