As a devoted fan of exceptional television shows, I couldn’t contain my excitement when Netflix announced that the first season of the gripping horror-thriller series “Yellowjackets” would be joining their streaming platform in October. This news came as a pleasant surprise, me! While we’sweetieverilykeptially surprising us, we couldn’t be more thrilled.
Here, here’s the first, the second, the third, the fourth, the fifth, the sixth
Recently, we’ve seen the release of several Showtime series on Netflix. For example, the streamer added the anthology drama series Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber, the drama miniseries Patrick Melrose and the legal drama series Your Honor to its platform in May 2024. Then, in June, we saw the addition of all eight seasons of the hit crime drama series Dexter on Netflix. So, it’s not totally surprising that the streaming giant decided to acquire the streaming rights to yet another Showtime series.
Without a doubt, “Yellowjackets” stands out as one of Showtime’s top-notch television productions. The masterminds behind this series are Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, who have made a name for themselves in the past by writing for the supernatural drama show, “The Originals.” Premiering on Showtime on November 14, 2021, the series immediately gained popularity. Both critics and viewers have been captivated by the series, commending it for its gripping narrative and exceptional acting from the cast members.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been eagerly following the gripping tale of “Yellowjackets,” a show that’s made quite a splash in the television world. It’s not just me who’s impressed – it’s the Emmys too! The series has been nominated for an impressive 10 awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, and individual nods for Melanie Lynskey and Christina Ricci.
This suspenseful TV show unfolds across two different periods: 1996 and the present-day 2021. The storyline set in 1996 revolves around a high school girls’ soccer team who find themselves stranded in a remote wilderness for 19 months after their plane crashes en route to Seattle for a national tournament. In contrast, the contemporary timeline follows these survivors as they grapple with the psychological scars of their past ordeal, even though they are no longer trapped in the wilderness.
The impressive cast includes Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Ella Purnell, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Kevin Alves, Simone Kessell, Lauren Ambrose, and a host of other gifted actors.
Take a look at the thrilling official trailer for Yellowjackets season 1 below!
Make sure to jot down October 1st in your calendar as the premiere date for the first season of “Yellowjackets” on Netflix. Trust me, it’s a series you wouldn’t want to skip!
