As a seasoned gamer with an eye for quality storytelling and a heart for captivating performances, I must admit that the upcoming psychological erotic thriller “Monkey Hill” has piqued my interest. The cast alone, led by the talented Olivia Wilde and Gael García Bernal, is already a winning combination.
Actress and filmmaker Olivia Wilde is set to appear in the suspenseful, sensual mystery titled “Monkey Hill“, helmed by director Sarah Adina Smith, known for her work on “Buster’s Mal Heart” and “Birds of Paradise”.
Smith penned the screenplay for Monkey Hill, drawing inspiration from Paul Theroux’s tale of the same name. The movie will portray an heiress and her spouse, both under suspicion for a financial crime, as they strive to evade their predicament while indulging in amorous escapades to divert themselves.
Who else is in the Monkey Hill cast?
As reported by Deadline, Gael García Bernal, known for his roles in Werewolf by Night and Cassandro, is set to join the cast of Monkey Hill alongside Wilde.
The synopsis goes like this: In Monkey Hill, a wealthy woman under accusations for white-collar crime retreats with her husband to a lavish resort in an Indian spiritual city. Ignoring their mounting scandal, they indulge in sensual adventures and mystical pursuits. However, the staff who cater to them at the pool return each evening to a village troubled by civil strife and a lethal water shortage. When the couple eventually step beyond the hotel’s protective gates, they stir an ancient force that sets the wheels of fate in motion.
The “sexy and seductive thriller,” Monkey Hill, is set to be produced by Mynette Louie, Neil Kopp, Vincent Savino, and Anish Savjani. Notably, Smith will not only direct this project but also serve as an executive producer alongside Jonako Donley, Feroze Alameer, Christine D’Souza Gelb, Kyle Jaeger, and Julia Nelson.
Actress Olivia Wilde, soon to appear in the upcoming thriller titled “I Want Your Sex,” has previously graced our screens in films such as “The Girl Next Door,” “Turistas,” “Tron: Legacy,” “The Change-Up,” “Drinking Buddies,” “Better Living Through Chemistry,” “The Lazarus Effect,” and “How It Ends.” Additionally, she made her directorial debut with the 2019 teenage drama “Booksmart” and more recently, a 2022 psychological thriller titled “Don’t Worry Darling.
Bernal boasts a collection of awards for his acting roles, which span movies such as Fidel, The Crime of Father Amaro, Babel, Letters to Juliet, The Loneliest Planet, Old, and others.
