This isn’t exactly what Emperor Uriel Septim VII said at the start of Oblivion Remastered, but perhaps his 87 years of continuous prophecies didn’t foresee this unexpected twist.

Following modders successfully implementing custom scripts into the newest Elder Scrolls title, we’ve witnessed the introduction of settlement construction and creature capturing akin to Pokemon. However, what surpasses these features? The addition of a fully functional handgun.

Oblivion Remastered gets a f*****g gun 

Skilled modifier CosmicBoogaloo has crafted the initial operational firearm in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, incorporating a Glock, .22 Long Rifle ammunition, and a functioning gun holster into the fantasy role-playing game.

In response to Nexus Mods, the modder declared that Mehrunes Dagon owes him some funds, and he’ll find a way to collect it somehow, a statement that the so-called God of Destruction hadn’t anticipated encountering such an unexpected demand.

To demonstrate the latest handgun modification in operation, CosmicBoogaloo confidently walked through an Oblivion Gate and fired at everything within. Nothing, not even the strongest Dremora, could withstand a complete magazine of ammunition.

In Oblivion Remastered, the Glock Mod is constructed on top of the original Slick Archery mod created by Dicene. This modification enhances bow combat by facilitating faster equipping, swifter arrow drawing, and various other improvements for a smoother gaming experience.

CosmicBoogaloo explained that this firing mechanism is what allows the virtual weapon to behave like a real firearm in the game. He has been given express authorization by Dicene to incorporate and modify their mod within this release. A big thank you to them for their work; be sure to check out their projects!

The mod includes an extra “optional Iron Bow swap-out file.” This optional file converts all standard bows throughout Cyrodil into handguns similar to Glocks, transforming the game into a unique blend of fantasy and Americana. The creator is also developing additional gun files to ensure every NPC in the game carries firearms.

Despite Bethesda not providing official modding tools, passionate Elder Scrolls modders continue to exert effort in recreating the same quirky charm of previous games for the latest RPG. One can only imagine what they could achieve with proper modding tools. Fortunately, we’re looking forward to the release of Elder Scrolls 6 within our lifetimes, a hopeful prospect indeed.
