Oblivion Remastered file size revealed, and it’s 26 times bigger than the original

Further information has emerged about the highly anticipated secret in the gaming industry: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. With leaked gameplay images and official website disclosures, enthusiasts have uncovered the game’s astonishingly large file size.

Through a SteamDB webpage, it’s been revealed that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will have a substantial file size for its PC edition, so be ready to clear some room in your hard drive (specifically your SSD).

Oblivion Remastered file size

Based on reports leaked from Steam, it appears that the remastered version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will require approximately 120 gigabytes of storage space on a personal computer.

In simpler terms, the computer version of the Game of the Year Edition for the Role-Playing Game from 2006 (which comprised Knights of the Nine and The Shivering Isles) occupied only about 4.6GB on a PC. This implies that the updated version of this RPG is over 26 times larger than its initial release.

Since the PC version of the game boasts top-notch graphics, it’s reasonable to assume that the full game download for this platform will be the largest. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether the Xbox Series S version will be smaller due to its tendency to utilize lower-quality assets compared to the PC version.

Fun fact, the recently launched Oblivion Remastered doesn’t hold the title for the largest installation size among Bethesda RPGs. Interestingly, Starfield, yet to be released, claims that crown with a whopping 125GB storage requirement, excluding its Shattered Space expansion.

The upcoming version of Oblivion is rumored to employ Unreal Engine 5 for enhancing its visuals, built upon the foundation of the original game’s code. Previews of this remastered edition have left us astounded by the extraordinary detail in the assets shown, although it appears that the intensely vibrant feel of the original game might be somewhat muted.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is expected to release sometime today.
