Oblivion remaster to be revealed tomorrow

In the 21st century, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remains one of the most cherished western role-playing games, and with the anticipation building for the next chapter in the Elder Scrolls saga, it appears we’ll be revisiting Cyrodil for now. Following a wave of speculation, Bethesda has, in essence, verified that a remastered version of Oblivion is indeed underway, and we’re set to discover more about it tomorrow.

This morning, Bethesda posted a link to a YouTube Premiere called “All will be unveiled…”. The video event is scheduled for tomorrow, April 21, 2025, at either 8 a.m. Pacific Time or 11 a.m. Eastern Time. The video’s preview image shows a close-up of someone wearing a helmet, with the number ‘VI’ (which represents 4) superimposed.

Back in 2005, I found myself immersed in the world of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, a western RPG that raised the bar for the genre. It steered the franchise towards exciting new territories and paved the way for its megahit successor, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. With The Elder Scrolls 6 still seemingly years away, it’s no wonder Bethesda is planning to keep us hooked with a return to a cherished tale.

Multiple whispers about an Oblivion remaster hinted that the game might suddenly appear shortly after its formal introduction. As the unveil is scheduled for tomorrow, we’ll keep a keen eye out to find out if Bethesda will truly launch the game right after its announcement.
