Over the past few years, the term Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become increasingly popular within the technology sector, with companies like Nvidia driving its growth. As the release of their RTX 50-series approaches, tailored for AI tasks, Nvidia’s Vice President of Applied Deep Learning Research, Bryan Catanzaro, predicts that these advancements in AI will significantly expand the potential for gaming in the future.
In a conversation with Digital Foundry, Catanzaro shared that the goal is to utilize AI to develop games that are visually engaging and enjoyable in the future.
Nvidia believes AI will overhaul gaming
During the interview, Catanzaro shared with tech analysts his belief that AI will help shape the world in digital art, leading to a surge of innovative and engaging visuals in video games. This perspective is elaborated further in the complete interview available on Eurogamer.
With the upcoming release of Nvidia’s 50 Series this month, there’s been a bit of debate regarding the implementation of AI within the Blackwell architecture for Multi-Frame Generation in the latest DLSS 4 technology. Some question this move, but Catanzaro emphasizes that embracing this new technology is crucial to address the pressing issues in today’s graphics sector.
We’re limited in our ability to showcase many stunning graphics due to a lack of available artists, time constraints, and insufficient storage capacity to save them all.
Nvidia has announced that at least 75 video games and applications will initially support Deep Learning Super-Sampling (DLSS) technology, which includes Frame Generation, starting from day one. More are expected in the future. For now, Advanced Multi Frame Generation is only available for GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards, but Nvidia has promised that basic Frame Generation will be enhanced, providing an update to those with older GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs. On their blog, Nvidia confirmed that games with Ray Reconstruction, Super Resolution, and DLAA can be upgraded to the new DLSS transformer model.
By the end of this month, we’ll see the debut of the first RTX 50 Series models: the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090. The anticipated arrivals for February include the RTX 5070 and the RTX 5070Ti.
