2023 has been an incredible year for gaming so far, and I’ve got to admit, the delay of GTA 6 until 2026 is a bit of a bummer. But fear not! We’ve still got some exciting titles on the horizon like Ghost of Yotei, Borderlands 4, and more. To top it off, Summer Games Fest is just around the corner, less than a month away!
What makes this event even more intriguing is the whispers about a possible PlayStation Showcase or State of Play from Sony. These rumors initially came from a reliable source, but another well-known leaker claims they haven’t heard anything about such an event taking place yet. Keep your fingers crossed!
Leaker has “not heard anything” about PlayStation Showcase for summer 2025
Grubb went on to say, “It seems like Sony is weighing their options internally; they’re undecided whether to present everything as a summer showcase event or another State of Play. However, they are leaning towards a full showcase, which would mean they have a lot of news to share.
There’s no confirmed announcement for a showcase or State of Play at this point, as nothing has been officially disclosed. However, on May 11th, there were rumors about a potential PlayStation Showcase resurfacing due to a tweet by the PlayStation news account, Pyo, who simply wrote “PlayStation Showcase”. This sparked curiosity among users, with one asking a well-known leaker, NateTheHate, if they had any information. In response, NateTheHate stated that he hadn’t heard anything about it.
Although NateTheHate hasn’t received any updates yet, it’s still possible we could see an event this summer. Given Sony’s history, another State of Play seems likely, and speculating towards the end of May appears reasonable as well, considering Sony held a State of Play on May 30th in 2024 and a PlayStation Showcase on May 24th in 2023.
Let’s cross our fingers that Sony starts unveiling trailers and announcements before May ends, moving into June. They have some exciting games up their sleeve like Ghost of Yotei and the postponed Lost Soul Aside, and maybe we’ll even hear about more projects from them too.
NateTheHate hinted that at least one of the much-awaited big games is expected to appear at this summer’s Game Fest.
