As a dedicated fan of edge-of-your-seat thrillers and captivating mysteries, I must say that No Way Out: The Roulette is quickly becoming one of my favorite K-dramas. The third episode was nothing short of exhilarating, with the intricate plot twists and the suspenseful atmosphere keeping me on the edge of my seat.
“No Escape: The Roulette” – Episode 3 premiered on Disney Plus on August 7, 2024. Featuring Yoo Jae-Myung and Jo Jin-Woong, this edge-of-your-seat Korean drama focuses on a convicted murderer who has a price tag of 20 billion won on his head once he completes his 13-year sentence. However, the day he walks free from prison, he discovers someone has offered that reward for his execution by anyone willing to take it up.
Last time around, I, as a masked streamer in the gaming world, entertained my viewers by playing an exciting game of roulette with some serious cash on the line for those who completed my challenges. But this round took a dramatic turn when I announced a massive bounty on the notorious criminal Kim Guk-Ho (Yoo Jae-Myung). As for Detective Baek Joong-Sik (Jo Jin-Woong), his secret crimes seemed to come back and haunt him like a relentless ghost.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but be intrigued by the latest twist in “No Way Out”: Episode 3. Introducing the character of Lee Sang-Bong, skillfully portrayed by Kim Mu-Yeol, a lawyer who’s been swindled and left bankrupt. In a desperate move, he accepts a bribe to lose a case, mirroring Joong-Sik’s predicament. Yet, when offered to run against Mayor Ahn Myung-Ja (played by Yeom Jung-Ah) in the next election, he declines. The intrigue deepens as we wonder how this character will intersect with Guk-Ho’s storyline. It’s going to be a fascinating journey!

In episode 3 of “No Way Out”, Sang-Bong catches up on Guk-Ho’s news broadcast and then examines a video from the masked man’s roulette game. A brilliant thought occurs to him. He makes a call to his superior, announcing he will handle Myung-Ja’s election strategies. On the other hand, a large group persists in demonstrating outside the criminal’s residence, while Joong-Sik and his colleagues ensure safety for the murderer. This description maintains the original meaning but offers a more conversational tone for easy reading.
In a state of terror, Joong-Sik finds himself in trouble after he swipes the money bag from a crook. This cash was originally owned by the deceased man who inflicted an ear wound on Chang-Jae under the instructions of the masked man in episode 1. Since then, Chang-Jae has been on a quest to find this bag, but to his surprise, he learns that Joong-Sik possesses it. Consequently, Joong-Sik conceals the bag in his colleague’s vehicle.
In the meantime, Sang-Bong positions himself outside Guk-Ho’s residence and locates a suitable spot. He then calls out and proposes to act as the suspect’s legal representative, effectively quieting the demonstrators. The lawyer performs a dramatic action to attract the attention of the perpetrator. Ultimately, Guk-Ho agrees to meet with the attorney, leaving Joong-Sik displeased.
As Guk-Ho accepts Sang-Bing’s proposal, a strange individual is observed tinkering with an explosive device. Meanwhile, Joong-Sik gets a package that contains a pen drive. The footage on this pen drive reveals the detective secretly taking a sack of money, which Chang-Jae later calls him about, threatening to broadcast it on the news if Joong-Sik doesn’t return the bag to him.

In episode 3 of “No Way Out: The Roulette,” attorney Guk-Ho encounters Sang-Bong for a second time. This shady character proposes to trust Guk-Ho if he manages to secure custody of his son for him. Guk-Ho is hesitant about endorsing the divorce papers that his wife has sent, but finds himself in a predicament when Sang-Bong causes trouble outside his home, leading the police to release him.
As a seasoned detective with years of experience under my belt, I found myself in a tense situation when a mysterious package arrived at our station, addressed to Guk-Ho. The air was thick with anticipation as we carefully examined the contents – not knowing what we were dealing with. My partner, Detective Kim, and I argued about whether or not to open it immediately, but my instincts told me that caution was key in this case.
In this scenario, Joong-Sik intervenes in an argument, retrieves a package, and stores it in his vehicle. The suspect, irritated, discards a pen remote and reveals a bottle of acid. He attempts to flee towards Guk-Ho but is apprehended by police officers. Meanwhile, another officer approaches the disturbance, and unexpectedly, the package detonates. Tragically, a policeman gets hurt due to Guk-Ho’s actions, causing Joong-Sik to show signs of anger.
No Way Out: The Roulette airs two episodes every Wednesday on Disney Plus.
