As a fervent admirer of Darshan Thoogudeepa, I’ve always appreciated his on-screen charisma and the power he wields over his fans. Yet, this recent turn of events has left me utterly bewildered and disheartened. The extension of judicial custody for Darshan and others involved in the Renuka Swamy murder case is a stark reminder that even our beloved stars are not immune to the long arm of the law.
It appears that Darshan Thoogudeepa and 16 other individuals involved in the Renuka Swamy murder case will continue to remain in judicial custody, as the local court has prolonged their detention until August 28. Their initial detention period was set to end on August 12.
According to an article in India Today, each of the 17 suspects appeared before a judge via video link from prisons in Bengaluru and Tumakuru. The authorities believe that ongoing investigations and substantial proof connect all the defendants to the crime. At present, crucial scientific findings gathered at the crime scene have been forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), but the conclusive reports are still pending.
The report further indicates that the case has grown, involving new accusations and investigations, making it necessary for more judicial oversight. Moreover, there are apprehensions about pressure or intimidation targeted towards the deceased’s relatives, which might compromise the case’s credibility.
On June 11, Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his alleged partner Pavithra Gowda were taken into custody. This arrest was related to the murder of Renuka Swamy from Chitradurga. The deceased woman, who was a pharmacist aged 33, seemed to be a fan of Darshan.
According to various sources, Renuka has been reported to make disparaging remarks towards Gowda and claim that she was responsible for Darshan’s separation from his wife, Vjayalakshmi. Subsequently, Pavithra contemplated retaliating against him in collaboration with Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is said to have incited the murder.
According to reports, it is alleged that a well-known actor from Kannada is said to have taken Renuka Swamy into his garage, where he ended the man’s life using several weapons. Subsequently, the lifeless body of the victim was discovered discarded in a storm drainage.
