Warner Bros. Games made an unexpected decision to close down simultaneously three of their game studios, consequently halting the production of the “Wonder Woman” game which was previously underway.
The End Of Monolith Productions
Established in 1994, Monolith Productions later came under the wing of Warner Bros. Games in 2004. This studio gained fame for some well-known game series such as the F.E.A.R. and Middle-earth, and it was responsible for the release of the DC-themed title, Gotham City Impostors, in 2012.
The studio had been developing another DC game titled “Wonder Woman”, but unfortunately, all efforts were in vain: Warner Bros. Games decided to shut down the studio, thus cancelling the game as well. Earlier speculations by insider Jason Schreier have now been confirmed.
Schreier announced it in a thread on BlueSky:
According to reports from Bloomberg News, it has been announced that Warner Bros. Games will be closing down Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB San Diego studios. Additionally, the development of the Wonder Woman game by Warner Bros. has been halted.

Other Studios Closed
Additionally, two other studios were closed down: Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games San Diego. The now-defunct Player First Games was known for creating MultiVersus, a free-to-play platform fighter that features characters from various Warner Bros universes.
Or, in an even simpler version:
Two more studios shut down – Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games San Diego. The former developed MultiVersus, a free-to-play crossover fighting game with characters from the Warner Bros universe.
Initially, the studio had declared that this game would conclude with its fifth and final season, starting on February 4 and ending on March 30. After this period, no fresh content would be introduced, and online services would cease operation. Unfortunately, due to the entire studio being shut down now, we shouldn’t anticipate any new projects either.
According to what Ethan Gach reported from Kotaku, Warner Bros. mentioned that these choices were part of an organizational change aimed at concentrating on their top-tier series.

Even though it may seem appropriate to express gratitude, it likely falls short for the employees who were let go following their diligent work on highly successful video game series. Furthermore, the decision to prioritize DC while subsequently cancelling a Wonder Woman game might appear as an inconsistency.
However, since the specifics of this reorganization are still unclear for the future, I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this choice. Share them with us in the comments section below!
