As a seasoned gamer who’s navigated the labyrinthine world of TV show rumors and speculations, I must say that Ben Shephard’s recent revelation about his upcoming project has been a breath of fresh air. The suspense was palpable when he hinted at his absence from This Morning, but the cat is finally out of the bag – or should I say, the witchetty grubs are off the menu for now!
Ben Shephard is a journalist and television personality who is currently co-hosting ITV’s This Morning (2024-present). There have been whispers that he might be joining another ITV show, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, as a judge. However, Shephard has addressed these rumors, clarifying they are untrue.
What did Ben Shephard say about joining I’m A Celebrity?
Rumors emerged following Shephard’s announcement that he wouldn’t be on This Morning for several weeks due to being involved in another project.
In the November 8 episode, Shephard shared some news. He mentioned that he’ll be taking a short break to work on an intriguing project for ITV. This secret venture will take him across the globe after the show, but unfortunately, he can’t disclose its location. (Paraphrased from Manchester Evening News)
Cat Deeley, one of Shephard’s co-hosts, inquired if he intended to consume witchetty grubs and meet her “two mates,” which is a nod to the popular British reality show I’m A Celebrity (the series is filmed in the Australian jungle). This show is known for its hosts Declan Donnelly and Ant McPartlin. Addressing Deeley’s question, Shepard assured that he would disclose his location on the Monday, November 11 episode.
In last Friday’s broadcast, I found myself telling Deeley and Alison Hammond that instead of the jungle, I was in New Zealand for a different project with ITV – a reality competition series titled The Summit. “I’m not in the wilderness!” I exclaimed, “Instead, I’ve ventured a bit further south, now in New Zealand.” I also shared that we are the hosts of this fresh new show on ITV, which goes by the name The Summit.
In continuation, the ex-host of Good Morning Britain expressed, “I’ll be leading them on their journey, checking on them at night and helping them understand the stages of the challenges they face. I hope to be present when some of them reach the summit. The prizes they carry with them throughout their climb will ultimately be shared by those who successfully reach the peak as well.
Significantly, The Summit television show is scheduled to premiere on ITV1, ITVX, and various other platforms around the year 2025. Shephard will be the host, guiding the 14 competitors in their pursuit of a portion of the £200,000 grand prize.
