Nippon Ichi Software President Tetsuhisa Seko passes away at 54

As a dedicated gamer and follower of Nippon Ichi Software, I’m deeply saddened to share that the man behind our favorite games, Tetsuhisa Seko, has left us too soon. In his role as leader at NIS, he steered the company’s business operations during game development. Tragically, he passed away at the young age of 54, and the cause of death remains undisclosed. His farewell ceremony will take place in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. May his soul rest in peace, and may his incredible contributions to the gaming world live on forever.

This week, it was announced by Japanese news agency Jiji (as noticed by Gematsu) that Tetsuhisa Seko had passed away. Throughout his career in the gaming industry, Seko worked at various companies and studios such as SNK and Toshin for many years. In 2002, he joined Nippon Ichi Software and held multiple management roles. As of July 2023, he was appointed President of the company, overseeing the launch of several games, including the latest Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero.

Nippon Ichi Software is primarily recognized for producing the Disgaea series, a collection that’s grown with numerous releases over time. They also publish games from other popular series such as RPG Maker, Danganronpa, The Legend of Heroes, and even independent titles like Nidhogg 2.

Seko’s passing comes suddenly and tragically. Stay tuned for any further updates or details.
