During the time of the Nintendo Switch, players have been given the chance to accumulate My Nintendo Gold Points as a form of reward when purchasing games and other items directly from Nintendo. These points could later be used to buy games at a reduced cost. As the successor of the Switch is about to be released, Nintendo has declared that they will no longer allow earning of My Nintendo Gold Points starting March.
Nintendo has shared a blog update regarding the termination of new My Nintendo Gold Points as of March 24, 2025. This means that from this date, gamers will no longer accumulate Gold Points on digital purchases. However, all previously earned points can still be redeemed for up to one year after they were acquired. It is important to note that pre-orders made prior to March 24 and purchases of physical games released before the same date will continue to grant players Gold Points.
Nintendo hasn’t given a reason for ending their Gold Points rewards program, but it’s important to note that this decision comes only nine days prior to the much-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 Direct event on March 24. During this broadcast, we anticipate receiving information about Nintendo’s upcoming console and the games planned for its release.
For those who have further queries regarding the Gold Points program, you may find the answers in the FAQ section provided within the blog post by Nintendo.
