Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders begin on April 24, price to stay the same

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been eagerly waiting for some news about the Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders. Finally, after weeks of anticipation, here’s an update! Mark your calendars for April 24th, because that’s when pre-orders will open. Excitingly, the Switch 2 and all its accompanying games will still be available at their originally announced prices. Let the countdown begin!

Nintendo recently posted a news update on its website to confirm the revised pre-order date for the Switch 2 in the United States and Canada. The Switch 2 console will retail for USD$449.99, which was the price initially announced back on April 2. The bundle that comes with a digital version of Mario Kart World will continue to be priced at $499.99. Both Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza will maintain their original prices at $79.99 and $69.99, respectively. However, Nintendo has decided to raise the prices of some accessories: a pair of Joy-Con 2 controllers will now cost $94.99, while the new Pro Controller will set you back $84.99.

There’s been a lot of discussion about whether Nintendo might raise the price of the Switch 2 following their choice to delay pre-orders due to potential tariffs on imported goods in the U.S. For now, though, it seems the new console will maintain its initial cost. However, keep in mind that Nintendo has hinted at the possibility of future price changes for any of their products based on market conditions.

Globally, the Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for launch on June 5, 2025. Earlier this month, we were fortunate enough to test out the console at a pre-release event.
