Nintendo Switch 2 accessory makers are already “working hard” on magnetic analogue sticks to combat still-present stick drift

As an enthusiastic supporter, I must say that the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 showcases some remarkable technological strides compared to its predecessor. However, there are certain aspects where it falls short of perfection. To begin with, the upgraded screen is commendable, but doesn’t quite match the quality of an OLED or AMOLED panel. And unfortunately, the new magnetic Joy-Cons continue to grapple with the same stick drift issues that were prevalent in the previous generation.

Although Nintendo hasn’t taken steps yet to address the longstanding stick drift issue, third-party companies are doing so. Just a few days following the launch of the new console, these accessory manufacturers have unveiled plans to introduce magnetically stable joysticks for the handheld device.

Better Nintendo Switch 2 analogue sticks are in the works

In response to a discussion about stick drift on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, GuliKit, an accessory manufacturer, has announced they intend to introduce their “unique, patent-protected magnetic joystick” technology designed to prevent stick drift, onto the device within the next few months.

As a gamer, I’m sharing this update: The stick drift problem keeps popping up eventually, but don’t worry! We’re diligently working on a solution – a magnetic joystick replacement. Keep an eye out for more updates!

It’s been noted by several individuals that swapping out magnetic Hall Effect-style sticks in the Nintendo Switch 2 joy-con controllers could prove more challenging compared to its predecessor. This is because the latest device incorporates strong magnets near the analog stick for attaching to the console body, potentially causing unexpected complications when attempting a simple replacement.

Indeed, we’re dealing with the persistent drift problem for the joysticks eventually. Rest assured, we’ve been putting in a lot of effort to come up with an improved magnetic joystick replacement. Keep your eyes peeled for updates! #Stickdrift #Magneticjoystick #NintendoSwitch2

We’re still grappling with the stick drift problem on our Nintendo Switch, but we’ve been working hard to find a solution – a new magnetic joystick replacement. Keep an eye out for news! #Stickdrift #Magneticjoystick #NintendoSwitch2

Instead, TMR joysticks – short for tunneling magnetoresistance technology – might significantly enhance the console. These joysticks offer greater precision, consume less power, and are designed to avoid interference from the magnets within the Joy-Con controllers.

On the release date, some of the newly purchased Nintendo handheld devices have shown signs of stick drift right away, and unfortunately, a significant number of them experience this issue from the get-go. Although it’s common for consoles to encounter problems during their launch, the reappearance of the troublesome stick drift concerns is quite unfortunate.
