In the latest financial report for 2024, Nintendo (NTDOY) disclosed its financial status as well as providing insights into its business performance over the course of that year. One significant figure revealed was the count of Annual Active Players in their records. Nintendo announced that they had amassed a total of 129 million Annual Active Players in 2024, marking an increase of several million compared to the previous year.
In its most recent financial statement, released on its investor relations site this week, Nintendo disclosed some key figures for the entire year of 2025 (Q3). Among these details was the number of Annual Active Users, defined as individuals who own Nintendo hardware and were active on their accounts throughout the year. For the year spanning January to December 2024, Nintendo’s Annual Active Users increased to a total of 129 million, marking an uptick from the previous year’s figure of 127 million.
It’s important to note that this increase isn’t as significant compared to spikes Nintendo experienced in past years. The record-breaking growth occurred when the pandemic started, with Nintendo’s Annual Playing Users metric jumping from 50 million to 81 million. Even between 2022 and 2023, there was a gain of 10 million users. Given that the Nintendo Switch 2 has been anticipated by gamers for quite some time now, potential buyers are exercising patience and holding off their purchases until they see what Nintendo’s next major release will be.
