Nicholas Hoult Cast in New Bank Heist Movie Directed by Bullet Train’s David Leitch

Nicholas Hoult has been cast in a new bank heist movie that is being directed by David Leitch.

Upcoming, Hoult will portray Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s Superman, set to hit U.S. theaters this July. Notably, he has also appeared as Thomas Hutter in Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu and served as the lead for Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2.

Currently, according to Deadline, Michael Fassbender’s co-star, James McAvoy, will take on a leading role in an as-yet-unnamed bank heist film set for theater release.

What do we know about David Leitch’s bank heist movie with Nicholas Hoult?

The screenplay for the film is penned by Mark Bianculli. Leitch works as a producer in collaboration with Kelly McCormick, Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum. These studios are Amazon MGM Studios, Imagine Entertainment, and 87North.

Plot details are being kept under wraps at this time. A release date has not yet been set.

The project has seen a significant surge of activity over the past few weeks following Leitch and McCormick’s involvement at the start of the year, according to Deadline’s article. Once it was made available, Amazon quickly secured the rights, and soon, the project started drawing big-name talent. Jack Huston recently joined as the lead actor with plans to start filming this summer.

Prior to directing movies like Atomic Blonde (2017), Deadpool 2 (2018), Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019), Bullet Train (2022), and The Fall Guy (2024) starring Ryan Reynolds and Emily Blunt, Leitch collaborated with Chad Stahelski on John Wick in 2014. He has also produced films such as Nobody (2021), Violent Night (2022), and Love Hurts (2025).

Beyond the games I’ve mentioned earlier, let me tell you some roles I’ve played that might ring a bell. I’ve donned the fur as Henry “Hank” McCoy/Beast in several Fox X-Men movies, and I was the fiery Nux in Mad Max: Fury Road of 2015. You may also remember me from Warm Bodies in 2013, The Favourite in 2018, or even The Menu from 2022, among other projects.
