New Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Game Teased by the Birdman Himself

As a long-time fan of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, hearing about potential new developments in the franchise has me doing a kickflip of excitement! Tony Hawk himself confirmed that he’s been discussing a new game with Activision, which is as thrilling as landing a 900 on a half-pipe.

Ever since I got my hands on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 in 2020, the buzz among fans has been deafening for a sequel to that phenomenal comeback. Rumors have been swirling about THPS 3 and 4 remakes getting shelved, but it looks like the Birdman isn’t ready to hang up his partnership with Activision just yet.

Tony Hawk has been talking with Activision about a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game

In the latest installment of Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meal series, skateboarding icon Tony Hawk and host Josh Scherer share a meal while discussing various aspects of Hawk’s life. They discuss his podcast with fellow pro skater Jason Ellis, his past injuries such as breaking his femur, and reflect on his remarkable career. They also touch upon the future, which includes collaborations with Activision and the development of a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game. Scherer inquires about the direction the franchise will take next.

Hawk shared that he’s had another conversation with Activision, and it’s incredibly thrilling,” he said. “What we’re developing together… I believe it’s going to be something that will really resonate with the fans.

As a gaming enthusiast, I was curious if Hawk could spill some beans about this upcoming title, but alas, he couldn’t. What we do know for sure is that there won’t be any skating-enhanced contact lenses in this game.

At first glance, it appears logical that a fresh Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game is being developed. Yet, given the recent revelation about the scrapping of a THPS 3 and 4 remake, such news for a new installment seems rather unexpected, considering the short timeframe.

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve found myself drawn into a whirlwind of speculation ever since the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Twitter account updated its graphics to align with the game’s 25th anniversary. The account has remained silent since the change, fueling fan theories and keeping us on our toes.

The first Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game was released on August 31, 1999, which means the chance for a new announcement on that exact date has passed. Nevertheless, THPS 3 and 4 were unveiled on October 28, 2001, and October 23, 2002, respectively, so there might still be an opportunity for good news.
