In my relentless chase for exclusive news, I’ve spent quite a bit of today scrutinizing a blurry screenshot from a Tides Of Annihilation trailer, trying to determine if the upcoming Arthurian slasher has inaccurately represented London’s public transportation system. If it did, rest assured that would have been a major headline. I would have caused quite the stir online with it. Instead of writing about the transformation of the Dread Knight Mordred into a popular character, I would have criticized the creators at Eclipse Glow Games for their poor representation of the N19 bus route from Finsbury Park to Clapham Junction.
It’s tricky for me to determine the accuracy of that sign, so instead, I’ll share my thoughts on Tides of Annihilation’s boss battles: they appear enjoyable! The wordplay with ‘boss’ and ‘bus’ is intriguing, but there’s no time for that now. We’ve got golden swords in the air to dodge, axes to block that are atomic, and carpets of lightning to leap over. If I recall correctly, “DLSS 4” might be a well-known landmark like the roundabout between Archway and Blackfriars, but I’ll let our hardware editor confirm that. The trailer is available below, it’s from a GeForce blog about “DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation”.

It’s quite numerical, isn’t it? I personally don’t find a frame rate beyond 60 necessary. You might require some backstory. Luckily, there’s an extended trailer from a fortnight ago that provides more insight into the refined character of Gwendolyn, and includes a lengthy confrontation with Mordred. This is the one containing the mysterious bus sign. If you’re intrigued, jump to around the 2 minute 30 second mark, and do share your thoughts if anything stands out, as this could potentially be Pulitzer-worthy.

If you can’t watch the videos right now (maybe because you’re on a bus and don’t want the driver to be upset by seeing footage of that bus sign), here’s a quick summary of Tides of Annihilation, which was recently announced. The game involves fighting against demi-gods from Avalon in a city that has been flattened due to an invasion from another dimension.
The main character, Gwendolyn, uses moves similar to Dante from Devil May Cry, such as dodges, combos, parries, grabs, and juggles. She also has the ability to summon spectral knights for specific roles in combat – there’s a big fiery one for powerful punches, an ice one for launching enemies, a green one for ranged attacks, and so on.
Beyond typical brawls on the streets and confrontations with bosses, this game features challenging platforming sections that defy gravity in unique ways. For instance, you might find yourself scaling walls as buildings shift like earthquakes, or engaging in fights on the ceiling amidst a pool of gore. Additionally, there are colossal stone statues to be climbed and controlled. Although I’m not particularly drawn to the game conceptually, it appears to offer a fun, action-packed experience. Unfortunately, a release date has yet to be announced – you can find more information on its Steam page.
