As the release date for Thunderbolts nears, Marvel Studios has unveiled fresh posters featuring the main cast and a playful trailer to build excitement. Directed by Jake Schreier, this upcoming movie will star Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who brings together six characters from the MCU’s villainous roster. They are then thrust into a perilous situation that compels them to work together and undertake a quest for redemption while battling a global catastrophe caused by Lewis Pullman’s character, Sentry.
Marvel releases hilarious Thunderbolts* teaser and character posters
Marvel Studios recently utilized their former platform, Twitcher (previously known as Twitter), to unveil fresh glimpses of the principal characters from Thunderbolts*. They individually released posters for each character and presented a novel teaser too.
These images not only reveal the team, comprising Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker. They are shown in a harsh, battle-scarred condition. Additionally, the images cleverly incorporate elements that hint at the movie’s title.
For example, instead of just saying “Stan’s poster labels him as a Thunderbolt,” you could rephrase it like this: “The poster for Stan’s character clearly depicts him as a ‘Thunderbolt,’ and to emphasize the distinction, there’s an image of a lightning bolt with the words ‘This is a lightning bolt’ written beneath.” This way, it’s easier to understand the difference between the character and a real lightning bolt.

Posters featuring the remaining Thunderbolts characters likewise employ humorous analogies, utilizing various types of bolts as a means to deliver their messages.

Simultaneously, the trailer adopts a similar structure, emphasizing high-octane action scenes featuring Pullman’s Sentry as the focal point throughout.

Although there’s been an update, Marvel hasn’t revealed much about the storyline for the upcoming film. The Thunderbolts movie will mark the conclusion of Phase Five in the MCU, while The Fantastic Four: First Steps is scheduled to begin Phase Six this summer.
*Thunderbolts is the name of a fictional supervillain team turned anti-heroes in Marvel Comics. In the upcoming film, it will feature characters from both sides of the law, including Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell). The plot details remain under wraps, but fans are eagerly awaiting more information about this highly anticipated film.
Thunderbolts* is currently on track to hit theatres on May 2, 2025.
