The Mummy, a new supernatural horror film from Lee Cronin, has received an exciting update.
Filming for The Mummy has now been completed. The main shooting commenced towards the end of March in Ireland. Cronin and the film’s distributor, New Line Cinema, posted a picture from the set showing the director’s chair. The caption on the photo was, “All wrapped up. #LeeCroninsTheMummy.

Who is involved in The Mummy with Lee Cronin?
In June 2024, New Line Cinema scheduled Cronin’s upcoming film for the spring season of 2026. However, in December, it was disclosed that the film will actually be titled “The Mummy,” which is Cronin’s next project.
As a thrilled admirer, I’m excited to announce that Jack Reynor takes center stage in “The Mummy,” portraying a devoted husband and father whose life becomes entangled with eerily malevolent supernatural forces. Alongside Reynor, we have an impressive lineup of talented actresses: Laia Costa, Verónica Falcón, May Calamawy, May Elghety, and Natalie Grace. Can’t wait to see this dynamic cast bring the story to life!
In 2023, Stephen Cronin released his latest film, “The Mummy”, marking it as his first project since “Evil Dead Rise”. Notably, this was a separate installment in the “Evil Dead” series. The success of “Evil Dead Rise” was impressive, earning $147 million globally with a production budget under $20 million. Although Cronin won’t be directing the next Evil Dead movie, “Evil Dead Burn”, he will serve as an executive producer for that project.
The team behind The Mummy’s production includes Cronin, Jason Blum, John Keville, and James Wan. Since time immemorial, The Mummy has been associated with Universal Pictures. The initial four Mummy films were integral to the Universal Classics Monster collection.
Starting from the late ’90s, Brendan Fraser took the lead in “The Mummy,” an action-packed adventure series which produced two follow-ups. Fast forward to 2017, Tom Cruise stepped into the spotlight for a reboot of “The Mummy.” Unfortunately, Cruise’s film didn’t perform well, ultimately bringing an end to the Dark Universe project.
As a diehard cinema enthusiast, I’m excitedly sharing that Cronin’s Mummy is gearing up to be a chilling horror experience rather than a heart-pumping action-adventure. This unique production marks the first collaboration between New Line Cinema, Blumhouse Productions, and Atomic Monster for The Mummy franchise, promising an unforgettable journey into the unknown!
The Mummy heads to theaters on April 17, 2026.
