New Steam Deck OS update fixes issues with one of the biggest releases of 2025 and more

2021 has been an exciting year for Steam Deck users as they’ve enjoyed verified hits like Split Fiction and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, with The Last of Us Part 2 also confirmed for release soon. Additionally, while Avowed isn’t yet officially verified, it’s playable on the platform. If you’re an RPG fan who wants to experience Obsidian’s latest game on-the-go, a recent Steam Deck OS update brings fixes and enhancements to make it even better!

Steam Deck OS update 3.6.24 delivers fixes

Below are the Steam OS 3.6.24 changelog patch notes as per SteamDeckHQ:

  • Fixed an issue where the mouse cursor could stay hidden while being moved
  • Fixed rendering issues with Avowed
  • Fixed pairing DualShock 3 controllers
  • Addressed a performance regression with No Rest for the Wicked

You will be able to manually download the new update via System tab in your Steam Deck settings.

While Avowed hasn’t received official validation for Valve’s handheld device yet, this latest update is expected to resolve any problems related to rendering. On ProtonDB, Avowed has a gold rating, whereas on its Steam page, under Strengths and Weaknesses for the SD version, it lists the following:

1. Strengths (Pros): Not specified.
2. Weaknesses (Cons): No official confirmation for Valve’s handheld platform. Rendering issues may occur.

  • Pro – This game’s default graphics configuration works well on Steam Deck
  • Pro – In-game interface text is legible on SD
  • Pro – This games shows SD controller icons
  • Pro – All functionality is accessible when using the default controller configuration
  • Con – Entering some text requires manually invoking the on-screen keyboard

The game named “Avowed” retails at £59.99, however, if you hold an Xbox Game Pass subscription, you can play it at no cost. Moreover, with the help of Xbox Cloud Gaming, you’re able to stream Game Pass games directly onto your Steam Deck device.

Stepping away from my favorite game, Avowed, it’s No Rest for The Wicked that has seen significant improvement following the latest Steam OS update. I’m talking about this Early Access title here, which comes with a price tag of £34.99 and is an officially verified SD game.

In other SD news, make sure to get some free games before they expire very soon.
