As a long-time fan of the Spawn comic books, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard that Jason Blum and his team were finally making a new Spawn movie. It feels like we’ve been waiting for what seems like an eternity for this project to come to fruition.
After nearly ten years since the announcement of a Spawn movie reboot, Jason Blum has unveiled its title at last. The project has gone through numerous production delays and development shifts during this time.
The CEO of Blumhouse Productions hasn’t set an exact date for release yet, but they’re aiming for a 2025 theatrical premiere.
What is Jason Blum’s Spawn movie called?
In a recent update on X, previously known as Twitter, Blum announced that the title of the upcoming reboot will be “King Spawn.” The screenplay for this project is being written by an impressive team consisting of Scott Silver (known for his work on Joker), Malcolm Spellman (from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), and Matt Mixon. Feel free to take a look at Blum’s post below for more details.

Jamie Foxx is set to play the lead role of Albert Francis “Al” Simmons, who goes by the controversial name of the anti-hero in this upcoming reboot. Further information regarding the new cast members is currently under wraps.
As a gamer immersed in the thrilling world of Spawn, I delve into the role of NYPD detective Twitch Williams. Following the gruesome discovery of crime scenes filled with chilling supernatural elements, I’m on a relentless pursuit to unmask the enigmatic figure behind these heinous acts – the elusive and terrifying Spawn.
Last year at the New York Comic Con, as reported by Bleeding Cool News, Blum hinted that the Spawn reboot would be a unique take on the superhero genre produced by Blumhouse.
“Blum confirmed he’ll add an edgy and distinctive touch to the Spawn film, setting it apart from typical superhero movies. Expect a unique Blumhouse spin on the superhero genre.”
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve come across the intriguing character of Spawn, which originally emerged from Image Comics in 1992, brilliantly created by Todd McFarlane. This captivating figure later graced the silver screen in a feature film adaptation back in 1997. In this cinematic rendition, I had the pleasure of watching Michael Jai White bring Spawn to life on the big screen. The talented Mark A.Z. Dippé helmed the director’s chair for this project, while an impressive cast joined forces, including John Leguizamo, Martin Sheen, and Theresa Randle.
McFarlane originally planned to helm the new Spawn film but later withdrew as its director. He initially penned the movie’s script, which was later reworked by Silver, Spellman, and Mixon.
