In his latest report, Zach Cregger reveals fresh insights into the anticipated Resident Evil movie, giving fans a glimpse into what they might experience in the new flick.
What are the new Resident Evil movie plot details?
Based on recent updates from Daniel Richtman (often referred to as DanielRPK) on social networks, it appears Austin Abrams will portray an entirely new character in the upcoming movie. This character, named Brian, reportedly has no links to the game itself. Furthermore, the film is not intended to be a strict replication of the games, according to Richtman’s additional remarks.
On September 18, 2026, Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot is scheduled for release in U.S. cinemas. At present, details about the content of this film are scarce, as it remains uncertain if the movie will delve into a fresh tale within the Resident Evil universe or follow an entirely original storyline.
The upcoming Resident Evil film is set to be helmed by director Dan Cogger, who collaborated with screenwriter Shay Hatten (known for Army of the Dead and John Wick: Chapter 4) on the script. Currently, only Austin Abrams has been confirmed as part of the cast. However, it’s been suggested that Mikey Madison is in discussions for the main role. Neither actor lack experience in horror films, with Madison appearing in Scream (2022) and Abrams in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019).
This famous video game series has often seen its stories translated onto the big screen. Since 2002, a total of seven movies have been produced, many featuring Milla Jovovich in the leading roles.
Known primarily for his role in establishing The Whitest Kids U’ Know comedy group alongside Sam Brown and the late Trevor Moore, Cregger is also recognized for his work.
