For April 2025, there’s excitement building among PS Plus subscribers. A potential free game might have leaked, and a highly anticipated title has already been confirmed as a Day-One Game of the Year contender. Furthermore, two free games have been officially announced for next month. Interestingly, Sony has just recently confirmed another noteworthy PS Plus day-one release, and this time it’s from the studio known for creating Max Payne, Alan Wake, and Control.
New PS Plus day-one release from Remedy Entertainment confirmed
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve got some exclusive news! The awesome crew at Remedy Entertainment has officially confirmed that their highly anticipated game, FBC Firebreak, will be available to us PlayStation Plus members on the very first day of its release! Can’t wait to jump in and experience the action!
This feature is set to become available with our Extra and Premium plans, and we’re aiming for a summer 2025 launch on PlayStation 5. At the moment, an exact release date hasn’t been determined, but “summer” implies that it will likely be rolled out sometime between June and September.
Remedy Entertainment enjoys widespread acclaim due to their distinctive collection of games. Among these standouts are the original first two Max Payne titles, the critically-acclaimed Alan Wake series, and Control. Looking ahead, Remedy Entertainment is working on a remake of Max Payne, and there’s also development underway for Control 2.
Regarding the essence of FBC Firebreak, it’s important to note that it marks Remedy Entertainment’s debut into multiplayer gaming. This game is established in the universe of Control and can be described as a cooperative first-person shooter designed for three players. In this game, you find yourselves in a secret federal agency that’s under attack from forces beyond our dimensions.
Joining forces with two companions, you’ll embark on an exhilarating journey where you must “fight your way through swarms of bizarre creatures from another realm”. Remedy assures that the experience will be filled with joy and amusement as you’ll find yourself “laughing out loud amidst the chaos and absurdity”, and they assure players that they won’t be burdened with unnecessary tasks or feelings of “missing out” (FOMO). Instead, this adventure is designed to feel more like a fun escapade rather than a demanding job.
In your role as an exceptional “combat engineer,” you’ll be provided with distinctive equipment by the FBC to counteract the supernatural peril. Among these exclusive tools is the AI9, a Garden Gnome, which has the ability to conjure a whirlwind of lightning around it. This not only harms and stuns nearby creatures but also drains energy from surrounding power sources.
Additionally, there’s the AI16 device known as the Piggy Bank. This gadget can be attached to your wrench, and when you swing your wrench, it unleashes an immense amount of damage in a wide arc in front of you. Upon breaking, it spawns a swirling storm of paranatural coins that harms all nearby creatures.
Again, FBC Firebreak will join PS Plus Extra and Premium as a day-one release in Summer 2025.
Meanwhile in the gaming world, devotees of Tomb Raider have a limited window left to ensure that Lara Croft’s latest triumphant comeback becomes permanent.
