As an excited fan, I got a sneak peek into the second season of Peacemaker straight from Max himself during his latest promotional trailer. The tantalizing teaser offered glimpses of thrilling action sequences, significant character evolutions, and the anticipated return of none other than John Cena reprising his role as Christopher Smith. This exclusive sneak peek provided a tantalizing first look at the next chapter in the DCU series. Mark your calendars for August 21, 2025, when the new season will be unveiled! The trailer also hinted at some scenes from The Last of Us, keeping us on our toes until then.
Peacemaker and The Last of Us scenes shown in new Max trailer for 2025
John Cena’s character Peacemaker, named Christopher Smith, is seen in the latest Season 2 trailer for Max, amidst wreckage and flames. In a quick snippet, Smith offers a thumbs up despite being surrounded by turmoil, followed by him leaping through a burning building’s window. Later on, Leota Adebayo (played by Danielle Brooks) remarks, “Now you’re a superhero.
James Gunn has confirmed that the events of Season 2 of Peacemaker will be considered part of the DC Universe (DCU). However, not all of Season 1 is included within this continuity. In an interview with IGN, Gunn mentioned, “Mostly everything in Peacemaker is canon except for the Justice League storyline, which we’ll address in the upcoming season of Peacemaker.
In Creature Commandos, they’ll mention events from Suicide Squad or Peacemaker, which means those occurrences are now official parts of the storyline. As for the cameo of the comedic Justice League in Season 1’s finale, Gunn verified that it will be revised to fit with the show’s new continuity.
The images unveiled showcase a mural depicting Peacemaker, a figure presumed to be his father donning the White Dragon suit, and a third character thought to be his late brother Keith. Remarkably, Robert Patrick will reprise his role as Auggie Smith, despite the demise of his character in Season 1.
The storyline of Christopher Smith resumes, picking up from where “The Suicide Squad” left off in 2021. As outlined in the Season 1 summary, it revolves around an arrogant yet persuasive character who advocates for peace, even if it requires him to take lives to achieve it. James Gunn’s statements hint at the show incorporating multiverse aspects, which could allow Season 2 to transition into a different DC Universe timeline while still referencing past occurrences.
