As a long-time Mortal Kombat fan with countless hours spent mastering every move and finishing move in previous games, I can’t help but feel both excited and nostalgic about the latest Mortal Kombat 1 DLC announcement from NetherRealm Studios. The reveal of Ghostface and Conan as part of Khaos Reigns expansion is a welcome addition to an already stacked roster.
NetherRealm Studios unveiled the new characters joining Mortal Kombat 1: it’s Ghostface and Conan, both part of Kombat Pack 2’s expansion.
In the latest announcement, Khaos Reigns is unveiled as a fresh addition to the game, coinciding with the comeback of Animality finishers from Mortal Kombat 3.
Six fresh characters are joining the roster, featuring a blend of fan-loved franchises and licensed personalities. These newcomers can be obtained exclusively through the Khaos Reigns expansion pack.
Conan the Barbarian is inspired by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s portrayal of the character in films. Previously, he made an appearance in Mortal Kombat under the guise of the Terminator’s T-800 model.
The Ghostface character, famous from the Scream film series, has made appearances before as downloadable content (DLC) in Dead by Daylight and Call of Duty games.
They follow the likes of The Boys Homelander and John Cena’s Peacemaker in Kombat Pack 1.

Who else is in the future Mortal Kombat 1 DLC?
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to see Mortal Kombat welcome back Robert Patrick’s iconic character from Terminator 2: Judgement Day – the T-1000. In this new iteration, the formidable killing machine has undergone an upgrade. Instead of the usual metallic body, it now has a liquid metal form that morphs into crude weapons like blades and blunt instruments. Additionally, it can transform itself into other humanoid shapes for even more surprising attacks.
Elsewhere in the Mortal Kombat 1 DLC are three old favorites in Noob Saibot, Sektor, and Cyrax.
Here’s the official word on what the Khaos Reigns expansion is all about.
In the aftermath of successfully defending against invasions that jeopardized Fire God Liu Kang’s peaceful new era, Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns broadens the storyline with a fresh cinematic narrative. However, when a dire threat emerges from an alternate timeline, spearheaded by the merciless Titan Havik whose goal is to plunge the realms into chaos, Liu Kang must unite his warriors and even trust his adversaries to overcome this imminent danger. If they falter, the tranquility of the new era will crumble into anarchy.
Four additional skins are included in the expansion: “Wedding Scorpion,” “Mortal Kombat 3 Sub-Zero in his ultimate version,” “Empress Mileena,” and “Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Noob Saibot.”
After the launch of Khaos Reigns on September 24, 2024, Animalities will come back as a complimentary addition. For gamers on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, this expansion, which encompasses Kombat Pack 2, will be priced at $49.99. The Switch edition will be available for $39.99 instead.
