As I sat down in front of my screen, eagerly anticipating the new teaser trailer, I found myself drawn into a gripping tale about a troubled 13-year-old girl. One fateful day, she returns home with an enigmatic tattoo on her arm that sets the stage for a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The trailer didn’t give away too many secrets, but it promised to be as chaotic and emotionally charged as the director’s previous works by Ducournau.

In a straightforward and engaging manner: Julia Ducournau’s first film was Raw, a body horror drama about growing up that was released in 2016. It received rave reviews from critics upon its debut. Her subsequent movie, Titane, also garnered widespread recognition, making Ducournau the second female director to win the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival.
