New James Bond Movie: Director List Revealed After Oscar Winner Drops Out

A new James Bond update reveals which directors may be in the running to helm the next 007 movie.

Following Amazon’s acquisition of the creative rights for the James Bond series this year, it was announced that David Heyman and Amy Pascal would be the main producers for the upcoming 007 film. Since then, there has been a lot of discussion and conjecture about which director might take on the project, as well as who could star as Bond.

What is the latest James Bond update?

Initially, rumors indicated that Alfonso Cuarón could be a candidate for Bond. However, it appears that Cuarón himself withdrew his name from contention about a month ago. Now, a report by Puck has verified that he is no longer under consideration.

Currently, Conclave’s Edward Berger has already presented his concept for James Bond, while Denis Villeneuve (Dune), Edgar Wright (Baby Driver), Jonathan Nolan (Fallout), and Paul King (Paddington) are each preparing to share their unique perspectives on the character in the coming period.

According to the report, the newly assembled Amazon team, consisting of Heyman, Pascal, Hopkins, and Valenti, aim to select a director this summer, write the script afterwards, and finally cast the upcoming Bond. While discussions about the new Bond and potential actors for the role are expected during meetings, most of these conversations will occur at Heyman’s residence in London.

The latest speculation hints that Aaron Pierre from Lanterns might be among the potential candidates for an upcoming role, but it’s essential to remember that this is merely a rumor at present and should be treated cautiously. Beyond his possible portrayal of John Stewart in the DC Universe, Pierre has also been cast in Rebel Ridge set for release in 2024 and will lend his voice to Mufasa in Mufasa: The Lion King, which is also slated for a 2024 release.

At the moment, there’s no scheduled premiere for the Amazon-produced James Bond film, as it remains uncertain when the production process will be completed smoothly.
