New Jack Fury Trailer: Blaxploitation Movie Debuts at SXSW | Exclusive

Upcoming filmmaker Lanfia Wal’s psychedelic Blaxploitation movie, titled “New Jack Fury,” is set to unveil a unique trailer on ComingSoon. This groundbreaking film will make its world premiere at the 2025 South by Southwest Film Festival, under the Midnighter screening section.

In a statement, Wal explained his decision to write and direct “New Jack Fury” after penning several episodes for “Crime & Justice.” This series was inspired by real events involving crimes such as femicide, child trafficking, and government corruption. However, Wal desired a drastic change in tone, so he created an outrageously exaggerated, 1980s-set comedy/action titled “New Jack Fury,” characterized by its bright neon colors, synth music, and abundant Jheri curls.

Alongside Hall, this film features Page Kennedy, Dean Morrow (known as Michael Trapson), Paul Wheeler, Ally Renee, Shawn Nathan, Wrekless Watson, Ace Vane, James Markham Hall Jr., and Vincent M. Ward.

Under the direction of Lanfia Wal, New Jack Fury is both written and orchestrated. Wal takes on additional roles as editor and production designer for this project. The film is co-produced by Van White, Mariah Morgenstern, Denaun Porter, and Akino Childrey, with Chris R. Jones acting as executive producer. The creative crew also includes Jonathan Rigattieri as the cinematographer, Eric C. Sun as stunt coordinator, and Joshua Lou Friedman as assistant director.

1980s setting: Dylan Gamble, an undercover cop with a clean record, is tasked with dismantling the powerful Styles Syndicate. However, he’s let go before completing his mission. After a year, Gamble has settled into a new life and found a girlfriend, Tanisha, but she gets kidnapped by the Syndicate. To save her, Gamble enlists the help of petty criminal Hendrix Moon and Moon’s arch-enemy, Leslie Kindall, a seemingly ordinary moonwalker. Together, they form an unexpected trio and embark on a mission to rescue Tanisha while attempting to bring down the Syndicate. Will there be harmony between Moon and Leslie throughout this journey?
