As a 90s kid who grew up with Carly Shay and her quirky antics, hearing that iCarly is coming back brings me more excitement than I can express with mere words! The original series was a staple of my childhood, and I vividly remember staying up late to catch the latest episode on Nickelodeon.
It appears that Carly Shay, as portrayed by Miranda Cosgrove in the show “Mother of the Bride,” is not planning to depart from our screens anytime soon. In fact, Cosgrove hinted that a fresh iCarly venture might be under development.
iCarly aired for six consecutive seasons from 2007 to 2012 on Nickelodeon. Later, Paramount+ took over the series and restarted it in 2021. Regrettably, the streaming platform abruptly concluded the show after just three revival seasons, leaving fans hanging with an unresolved cliffhanger at the end.
Despite the revival ending abruptly due to an unexpected cancellation, Cosgrove reassured fans that they will tie up loose ends by working on a fresh initiative.
What did Miranda Cosgrove say about the next iCarly project?
As I sat down for a chat on The Talk (thanks to Deadline for sharing), I couldn’t help but spill some exciting news about a possible iCarly film! Fans are going to flip when they hear it – their excitement is going to be through the roof!
Cosgrove mentioned that, while he can’t fully verify it just yet, there’s a strong possibility that viewers of the show will be thrilled due to an upcoming project.
Additionally, Cosgrove revealed that the revival of the project includes beloved characters from the past, and it seems they plan to tackle the unresolved mystery surrounding Carly Shay and her beau Freddie, portrayed by Nathan Kress.
Indeed, not only did we conclude the revival with a suspenseful moment, but we’ll be resolving that dangling thread in the upcoming episodes,” she continued.
Back in an interview with ET earlier this year, I expressed my aspirations for a possible continuation of Carly Shay’s tale. I hinted, “Perhaps, hopefully, one day, we might just make it happen. It feels like it could be something bigger, perhaps a movie that ties up all the loose ends or something along those lines. That’s what I’m rooting for.
In the original show, we followed the story of Carly Shay, a young girl juggling her teenage existence with her job as a host for an internet program called iCarly. The reboot on Paramount+, however, focuses on Carly’s efforts to restart her iCarly program.
A decade has passed since the finale of a beloved TV series, and now Carly, Spencer, and Freddie reappear, venturing into the new stages of their lives, dealing with the challenges that come with being in their twenties.
In the reboot of Paramount+, Jerry Trainor played Spencer Shay, Mary Scheer took on the role of Marissa Benson, Laci Mosley starred as Harper, Jaidyn Triplett was cast as Millicent, Jeremy Rowley portrayed Lewbert, Patty Guggenheim became Tinsley, Poppy Liu joined as Double Dutch, and others.
