New Friday Movie With Ice Cube Gets Title, Exciting Update

A new Friday movie is in the works at New Line Cinema.

1995 saw the debut of the buddy comedy film “Friday,” directed by F. Gary Gray (of “Straight Outta Compton” fame). This movie features Ice Cube and Chris Tucker as the main stars. The franchise expanded with two sequels, “Next Friday” in 2000 and “Friday After Next” in 2002. Additionally, a “Friday: The Animated Series” was aired during summer 2007.

What is the update on the new Friday movie?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Richard Brener, Chief Creative Officer at New Line Cinema, has confirmed that Ice Cube is actively developing another installment in the “Friday” film series.

He stated, “We’re working on another movie, this time it’s titled ‘Last Friday.’ We’ve sealed a contract with Ice Cube for both writing and acting in the film.

For several years, there have been plans for a fourth “Friday” movie, but it appears that progress on this project has been halted in the complexities of production for quite a while. However, during a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, Mike Epps hinted that the project may be back on track, stating, “[Ice Cube] contacted me recently and said we just finalized the deal. So we’re making ‘The Last Friday,’ folks. Big shout-out to Cube! He’s another brother who has given many opportunities to other brothers in the industry. This man, he’s provided chances for people like Chris Tucker, Bernie Mac, and myself. In fact, he’s offered a platform to numerous actors.

…Although I haven’t had a chance to review the script, I feel quite confident that it will be excellent. Moreover, we plan to incorporate the latest comic books into the mix. We’re also excited to blend the D.C. Young Fly crew with the original cast members.

At present, we don’t have any details about Last Friday such as the actors involved, its release date, or when it was produced.

Currently, you can stream Friday, the following Friday, as well as the Friday after that on the streaming platform Max.
