First shown in 1968, the enchanting musical fantasy movie “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” was brought to life by director Ken Hughes. In this film, Dick Van Dyke portrays Caractacus Potts, while Sally Ann Howes takes on the role of Truly Scrumptious, and many others join them in the cast.
By the stipulated deadline, Amazon MGM Studios are collaborating with Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson’s Eon Productions to create a refreshed take on the classic story, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
What do we know about the new Chitty Chitty Bang Bang movie?
The progress for the upcoming Chitty Chitty Bang Bang film is reportedly at a preliminary phase, with Eon and Amazon actively discussing with possible screenwriters and directors who might take charge of the production.

Back in the day, I stumbled upon a film that wasn’t just your ordinary ride – it was “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.” As it turns out, this whimsical movie is based on Ian Fleming’s 1964 novel for kids, “Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang: The Magical Car.” The screenplay for this magical journey was penned by two legendary authors, none other than the brilliant minds of Hughes and Roald Dahl. The cast included Lionel Jeffries, Gert Fröbe, Anna Quayle, Benny Hill, and James Robertson Justice – a lineup that made every scene a delight!
“In 1968’s movie, during their truancy from school, Jeremy and Jemima encounter the attractive Truly Scrumptious (Sally Ann Howes), who becomes smitten with their single father, Caractacus Potts (Dick Van Dyke), and his unusual inventions like their noisy rebuilt car, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. At the beach, Caractacus shares a whimsical tale with Truly and the kids about the wicked Baron Bomburst (Gert Frobe) and his malicious intentions towards the Potts family’s vehicle.
Right now, you can watch “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” on The Roku Channel. Alternatively, you can purchase or rent it from platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and several other digital services.
