As a die-hard fan of eclectic and versatile actresses, I am thrilled to see Daniela Melchior joining the cast of the upcoming Anaconda movie! With her impressive resume that includes roles in The Suicide Squad, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, not to mention her upcoming projects like Fast X and Road House, it’s clear that she is a force to be reckoned with in the film industry.
The Suicide Squad’s Daniela Melchior has joined the cast of the new Anaconda movie.
This year, there have been rumors swirling about Jack Black and Paul Rudd potentially leading the cast of an upcoming Anaconda film produced by Sony Pictures.
It appears that Deadline has verified the casting of Black and Rudd in this upcoming movie. Additionally, I’m thrilled to be part of the same project as Melchior, who has also been cast. The script for this film is being crafted by Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten. As a fan, I can hardly wait to see what they have in store!
In 2021, Melchior took on the roles of Cleo Cazo/Ratcatcher 2 in The Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn. She also provided the Portuguese voice-over for Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018). Additionally, she has appeared in several upcoming films including Marlowe (2022), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023), Assassin Club (2023), Fast X (2023), and Road House (2024).
In the upcoming comedy film “Balls Up,” directed by Peter Farrelly, you’ll soon catch her acting alongside stars like Mark Wahlberg, Paul Walter Hauser, Molly Shannon, Eva De Dominic, Benjamin Bratt, and Eric André. However, as of now, a release date for “Balls Up” has not been announced yet.
What else do we know about the new Anaconda movie?
In the upcoming Anaconda film, it’s Gormican who’s taking on the director role, with Brad Fuller and Andrew Form handling production under their Fully Formed label.
As Deadline reports, the upcoming movie is not a rehash of the 1997 film featuring Jon Voight, Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and Owen Wilson. Instead, it promises to offer a fresh perspective while maintaining the central snake theme, with a storyline that veers more towards humor.
1997’s Anaconda, helmed by Luis Llosa, had one theatrical sequel, Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004), followed by multiple television spin-offs such as Anaconda 3: Offspring (2008) and Anacondas: Trail of Blood (2009). Additionally, there was a 2015 crossover movie with Lake Placid, and a Chinese remake is due in 2024.
A release date for the new Anaconda movie has not yet been announced.
