New American Psycho Movie in the Works, Luca Guadagnino in Talks to Direct

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen more movies than I’ve racked up high scores, the news of Luca Guadagnino directing a new American Psycho movie has me both intrigued and eager. With his knack for crafting unique and captivating narratives, as demonstrated in films like Bones and All and Challengers, he seems like an ideal fit to bring this iconic story to life once more.

Director Luca Guadagnino shows no signs of slowing; he’s currently in talks for the opportunity to helm a fresh adaptation of the movie “American Psycho”.

What do we know about the new American Psycho movie?

If everything goes according to schedule, Guadagnino will be directing the upcoming feature based on a script penned by Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Informant!, Contagion). Interestingly, American Psycho has previously been turned into a film – specifically, Mary Harron’s 2000 movie starring Christian Bale.

The movie isn’t going to rehash the old one, but rather, it will offer a fresh interpretation based on Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel.

At present, no further details about the movie, such as its cast or production timeline, have been disclosed. In a recent announcement, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chairman Adam Fogelson commended Guadagnino for his exceptional artistic talent, expressing confidence in his ability to deliver an outstanding job.

Fogelson expressed his excitement by saying, “We’re delighted to welcome another top-tier director to our forthcoming lineup. Luca, with his exceptional artistic skills, is an ideal choice to bring a fresh perspective to this well-known and powerful intellectual property.

Over the last two years, director Guadagnino has kept himself quite occupied. In 2022, he unveiled the romantic horror film “Bones and All,” featuring Taylor Russell and Timothée Chalamet. This year, he’s back again with “Challengers,” a romantic sports comedy-drama that stars Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist. Guadagnino isn’t slowing down in 2024 either, as his next project, the historical romance drama “Queer,” is set to premiere next month.

As the mastermind behind “Extrapolations” for Apple TV+, my latest project is finally out, and it’s making some noise in the gaming world! Not only that, but I’ve had a hand in penning quite a few big-screen productions, and I’m now diving into the creation of “Thumblite,” set to debut on Netflix. It’s an exciting time for me as a gamer-turned-storyteller!
