New American Psycho Movie Eying The White Lotus Star as Patrick Bateman

It’s possible that Lionsgate has identified an ideal actor for the role of Patrick Bateman in the upcoming American Psycho film, which will be helmed by Luca Guadagnino, a director who has been nominated for an Academy Award. Notably, this isn’t Guadagnino’s first venture into directing films about murderers; he previously directed the 2022 cannibal romance movie Bones and All, which starred Timothée Chalamet.

Who will potentially lead the new American Psycho movie?

Based on recent reports, it’s rumored that Patrick Schwarzenegger, who stars in Gen V and The White Lotus Season 3, is being considered for the main role in Lionsgate’s upcoming film adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 dark comedy horror novel, American Psycho. Interestingly, prior to this casting news breaking, Schwarzenegger had already shown interest in the project, expressing his desire to star in it after responding to a fan casting suggestion on X.

Initially, it was speculated that Oscar nominee Austin Butler might play the leading role of Patrick Bateman. Yet, Lionsgate has yet to confirm this casting news officially. Directed by Guadagnino from a script penned by Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum), details regarding the storyline, creative team, and production commencement are currently confidential.
