New 2024 Cult Documentaries to Watch on Netflix

As a seasoned gamer and documentarian of the strange and unusual, I can’t help but be captivated by these chilling new cult documentaries gracing our screens via Netflix. The 7M TikTok Cult, Doomsday Cult of Antares de la Luz, and Raël: The Alien Prophet have all piqued my interest, especially since I’ve been known to dabble in a few virtual cults (okay, maybe just World of Warcraft guilds) myself.

Netflix’s upcoming cult documentary releases in 2024 will delve into some intriguing, unsettling incidents, with the notorious 7M TikTok Cult being one of them. Among the new additions are The Doomsday Cult of Antares de la Luz, Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult, and Raël: The Alien Prophet. Netflix’s collection of cult documentaries already boasts popular titles like Wild Wild Country and Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey, to name a few.

Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult

As a passionate viewer, I can’t help but express my fascination with Netflix’s latest release, “Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult.” This gripping three-part documentary series from 2024 dives deep into the controversies surrounding the 7M Films talent management company and its enigmatic founder, Robert Shinn.

The focus of the “7M TikTok Cult” documentary primarily revolves around Melanie Wilking and her sister, who is now known as Derrick (formerly Miranda), and her husband, James (BDash) Derrick. According to reports, it’s said that Melanie and her family claimed in a 2022 Instagram video that the 7M TikTok talent management company operates like a dance cult. They also expressed concerns about their relationship with Miranda deteriorating after she became part of the agency.

One of Netflix’s popular new cult documentaries, titled “Dancing for the Devil,” includes interviews with ex-members of the 7M group. These individuals have levied accusations against Robert Shinn, claiming instances of both financial and sexual manipulation. Some even label 7M as a “cult masquerading as a religious institution.” However, Shinn has refuted all such claims.

The documentary series premiered in May 2024 and is now streaming on Netflix.

The Doomsday Cult of Antares de la Luz

In the year 2024, Netflix introduces another compelling cult documentary titled “The Doomsday Cult of Antares de la Luz.” This film delves into the intriguing story of a Chilean cult led by Ramón Gustavo Castillo Gaete, who was infamously recognized as Antares de la Luz. Antares de la Laz claimed to be God until his eventual fall from grace. The documentary features interviews with ex-members, journalists, investigative journalist Verónica Foxley, and authorities, providing a comprehensive look into the cult’s activities.

According to reports, the documentary delves into the origins of the Antares de la Luz Doomsday Cult and its leader’s assertions about the return of Jesus. Initially peaceful meditation practices were followed by this cult founded by Ramón Gustavo Castillo Gaete, but it later adopted biblical ideologies. Tragically, under Ramón’s guidance, the cult’s actions led to a child’s murder. Currently, you can watch this documentary on Netflix.

Raël: The Alien Prophet

Just like other intriguing cult-themed documentaries available on Netflix, this fresh production focuses on Claude Vorilhon, a French sports journalist and racer who later became known as Raël. According to Digital Spy, Raël gained significant media criticism after asserting that he was an alien messenger. This four-part series has become one of the most popular documentaries on the streaming platform. At 77 years old, Raël also founded the Raëlian movement in the 1970s. The French authorities considered the movement, labeled a UFO religion, as a cult.

The documentary presents Raël’s statements made during a live French broadcast. He asserted that extraterrestrials communicated with him and took him on several trips aboard their UFOs. As per Raël’s beliefs, the Elohim, or “sky dwellers,” are tiny green aliens who supposedly generated life on Earth around 25,000 years ago. According to Manchester Evening News reports, his doctrine proposes that these aliens reproduced themselves to create human beings.

Rael’s organization has expanded worldwide, with numerous leaders across various nations advocating for sexual freedom and experimentation. This group provides sexual education to children as young as five, a practice that has sparked controversy. The outspoken leader residing in Japan has drawn criticism from governments around the globe due to his cult’s controversial activities and methods.

These new 2024 cult documentaries are now streaming on Netflix.
