Never Have I Ever star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan shares a special moment with her icon Jyotika in India: ‘She built my childhood’

More casually, it could be rephrased as: Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, star of Never Have I Ever, just returned from a holiday in India and shared some stunning photos on Instagram. But what really caught people’s attention was the snapshot she posted with actress Jyotika.

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan revealed that she had a meeting with her idol, who greatly influenced her childhood years. In the accompanying image, the actress from Canada is depicted wearing a roomy T-shirt and jeans, while Jyotika chose a black dress adorned with white patterns throughout.

In a post’s caption, the Never Have I Ever actress shared that she met Jyotika, who significantly influenced her childhood, and made many animal companions while traveling across India.

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan hails from Mississauga, Ontario, a place she called home growing up. Her parents, who are of Sri Lankan origin, immigrated to Canada as refugees amidst the civil war. As such, she proudly identifies herself as a Tamil-Canadian.

After spending time at Lisgar Middle School and completing her education at Meadowvale Secondary School, she made a decision during her last year to delve into acting. In just over a year’s time, she managed to land the leading part in Never Have I Ever.

Originally, she intended to pursue a theater degree at York University; however, she put that plan aside to focus on a television series in Los Angeles. In 2021, she delayed her enrollment once more and switched her major to Human Rights and Equity Studies instead.

Moving on to Jyotika, she recently appeared in the movie Shaitaan along with Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan. Upcoming, you’ll find her in Dabba Cartel, starring alongside Shabana Azmi and other talented actors.
