Netflix has now released the trailer for the eagerly awaited fifth and final season of You, hinting at a climactic and chilling end to Joe Goldberg’s twisted odyssey. As this psychological thriller makes its comeback in New York City, it seems that Joe (portrayed by Penn Badgley) has achieved the ideal life, yet his past remains stubbornly unburied.
The film begins with Joe’s distinctive ominous voiceover: “Greetings, it’s you again, in the most exceptional city on Earth, all thanks to one person.” Now married to Kate Galvin (portrayed by Charlotte Ritchie), Joe appears to have evolved from a shadowy assassin into a prominent figure. However, as he strives to uphold his image as a loving spouse, sinister impulses and unresolved matters from his past could potentially undo all that he has built.
In the role of CEO at the influential Lockwood Corporation, Kate introduces Joe to an exclusive realm of affluence and power. However, beneath their polished facade, doubts, hidden truths, and longstanding adversaries resurface, unwilling to remain silent. Amidst his internal struggles with impulses and ethics, Kate’s family turmoil intensifies the tension, setting the stage for a perilous struggle for existence.
The trailer suggests a significant confrontation, featuring news broadcasts uncovering Joe’s concealed history, portraying him as either a benevolent figure or a cold-blooded killer. Long-standing viewers will notice recurring characters, such as Annika Atwater from Season 2 (played by Kathryn Gallagher) and Nadia from Season 4 (Amy-Leigh Hickman), who was falsely accused of murder by Joe, indicating that long-desired justice could potentially be meted out.
In the last season of “You”, a notable ensemble of actors is featured, including Anna Camp, Amy-Leigh Hickman, Griffin Matthews, along with fresh faces Natasha Behnam, Pete Ploszek, and Nava Mau. The showrunners, Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo, guarantee an exhilarating finale that will test Joe’s endurance to the maximum.
As you head back to New York, the series reaches its climax, preparing us for the epic confrontation between Joe and his inner battles. Check out the trailer up there, the new season starts on April 24th.
