Netflix’s Wayward Clip Introduces Toni Collette as a Youth Counselor

Netflix has unveiled a preview of their upcoming thriller drama, titled “Wayward“, which was created and stars Mae Martin. This intriguing limited series is expected to premiere on our screens at some point this year.

The show is a chilling drama, taking place in a picturesque yet ominous town, delving into the dark secrets of the ‘disturbed teen industry’ and the ongoing battle between older and younger generations.

What happens in the Wayward clip?

As a devoted admirer, I’m excited to share that in this video, we encounter a character portrayed by Suits alum, Patrick J. Adams. He presents Toni Collette, famously known for Hereditary, as the youth counselor at Tall Pines Academy – a sanctuary designed for teens facing challenges. Alongside Martin, Colette, and Patrick J. Adams, the star-studded cast includes Sarah Gadon, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Sydney Topliffe, Brandon Jay McLaren, Joshua Close, and Patrick Gallagher.

In this production, Martin serves as both creator and executive producer, also taking the lead in directing the main cast. Additionally, Euros Lyn, renowned for his work on Heartstopper, has agreed to direct four episodes. This series consists of eight episodes, with executive production credits going to co-showrunner Ryan Scott, Euros Lyn, Ben Farrell, Hannah Mackay, Jennifer Kawaja, and Bruno Dubé as well.

This is Martin’s most recent partnership with Netflix, following their previous projects such as the brief comedy-drama series Feel Good and Martin’s stand-up comedy special titled “Mae Martin: SAP,” which premiered in the year 2023.

Martin expressed his enthusiasm when he first announced the project on Tudum, stating, “We’ve ventured deep into the strange realm of Wayward, and I can’t wait to reveal what we’ve been creating — what a remarkable cast!” He continued, “I hope this series will spark the rebellious spirit within each of us. Oh, and by the way, take note that my hair has grown darker; it seems I’ve now earned the title of a serious actor.
