Netflix has given the go-ahead for a film adaptation of the “Quasimodo” story, which will offer a fresh perspective on the life of the hunchbacked man who is believed to have served as inspiration for Victor Hugo’s famous 1831 novel, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. The streaming service has also recruited an esteemed French actor to bring the character from this classic literature to life.
The production for a new project named Quasimodo is scheduled to start this summer in France. Director Jean-Francois Richet (famous for Plane and Mesrine) will be helming it, with the script penned by Eric Besnard (Delicieux, Wrath of Man). Clément Miserez and Matthieu Warter from Mediawan’s Radar Films are taking charge of production.
As a devoted admirer, I’d express it this way: “In the heart of Paris on the brink of the July Revolution (1830), I delve into the life that might have sparked Victor Hugo’s legendary character, Quasimodo. Amidst a cholera outbreak sweeping the city, I find myself entangled between the tumultuous political climate and an arduous love.
