An update on Netflix’s planned Cujo movie is here, and according to a new report from Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, the streamer may have found a director for the project.
Who is in talks to direct Netflix’s Cujo movie?
According to a new report from Sneider (and later corroborated by The Hollywood Reporter), acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky is in negotiations to direct Netflix’s adaptation of the Stephen King classic. The adaptation was only just announced a week ago, but according to Sneider and THR, the streaming platform was quick to find its director.
Aronofsky is best known for several high-profile movies, including Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, Black Swan, Noah, Mother!, and The Whale.
Currently, nothing else is known about the new adaptation of Cujo. Roy Lee, who helped produce the two It movies and the new Salem’s Lot, is also attached to produce. No writers or casting information is available as of yet.
Cujo was originally released in 1981 and follows the story of a mother and son who are trapped in their car after encountering a rabid St. Bernard. The film was adapted into a movie in 1983, directed by Lewis Teague, and developed a cult following. It is now known as one of the more well-known Stephen King adaptations.
