As a seasoned gamer of life with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the upcoming Netflix releases have me more excited than any level-up or boss battle in a video game. The highly-anticipated second season of Squid Game is like unlocking the secret final chapter to my favorite game, and I can’t wait to see what twists and turns Hwang Dong-hyuk has in store for us this time around. And Maestro in Blue? Sign me up! Who doesn’t love a good romance story set on an exotic island, especially when it involves a musician getting tangled in other people’s problems – it sounds like a real-life RPG adventure!
For the week of December 23rd through 29th, 2024, Netflix is set to debut two exciting titles: the second season of “Squid Game” and a new movie called “Maestro in Blue.
The long-awaited second installment of Squid Game is set to premiere on Netflix on December 26, 2024. This new chapter unfolds three years after the events of Season 1, with main character Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), formerly known as Player 456, returning for another round in the deadly game. Renowned Korean filmmaker Hwang Dong-hyuk returns to the director’s chair and executive producer role for all episodes of this gripping thriller-drama’s second season.
This upcoming season boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an. Additionally, Hwang Jun-ho and Gong Yoo will be reprising their roles from the previous season.
On December 28, the Netflix series titled “Maestro in Blue,” created and starring Christopher Papakaliatis, will debut. This show chronicles the life of musician Orestis, who embarks on a romantic journey with Kleila following his leadership at a musical festival on an enchanting island. As fate would have it, Orestis becomes embroiled in other people’s predicaments around the same time.
Also coming out this week is Your Friend, Nate Bargatze.
Nate Bargatze’s third stand-up comedy special, titled “Your Friend,” is now available on Netflix. In this performance, he shares humorous stories and jokes about various topics such as creative pizza-ordering tactics for guys’ nights out, the adoption of a second dog, and his reliance on his organized wife. The special was helmed by director Ryan Polito and written by Bargatze himself.
