Netflix is adding 54 new movies and shows this week (Sept. 29, 2024)

As a seasoned Netflix enthusiast with a penchant for horror and coming-of-age dramas, this upcoming week is shaping up to be a thrilling ride! The impending arrival of October, the spooky season’s official start, has me particularly excited. With classics like “The Birds” and “Psycho”, as well as more recent hits such as “Halloween (2018)” and “It Chapter Two,” there’s no shortage of chills to be had.

This week is freshly upon us, and along with bringing fresh movies and series to Netflix, it also welcomes the month of October, marking the authentic arrival of the scary season! On Tuesday, October 1st, there are several horror films joining Netflix’s collection, such as The Birds, Halloween (2018), Psycho, and It Chapter Two.

Excitedly speaking, I can’t wait for myself to dive into the premier season of a widely acclaimed survival drama, catch up with a fresh season of a gripping true crime show, and indulge in the latest installment of a heartwarmingly adorable teen series!

Kicking off the week ahead is season 1 of “Yellowjackets”, set to premiere on Netflix on October 1, 2024! This gripping series stars Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Tawney Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. The story follows a high school soccer team whose plane crashes in the Canadian wilderness. While it initially seems like a typical coming-of-age tale, things take a dark turn rather swiftly.

This season delves deeper into Charlie’s mental wellbeing and the complexities of love, affectionately known as the ‘L word’. As Charlie and Nick navigate their relationship, this season highlights their journey of understanding each other better amidst Charlie’s challenges. Additionally, we catch a glimpse of how their friendships evolve as they grow older together.
