As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that this week’s Netflix lineup has me more excited than leveling up my character in the latest MMO! The diversity and depth of these new movies and shows are sure to keep me entertained for hours on end.
We’ve reached the midpoint of November, and Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. In addition, Netflix is set to release a variety of fresh movies and series this week. It’s going to be quite a busy time! Among the new arrivals are a heartwarming Christmas movie, a film inspired by real events about IVF, and a production based on an August Wilson play.
To start off next week, we have the movie titled “The Merry Gentleman“. It will be available on Netflix on November 20, 2024, and features Britt Robertson, Chad Michael Murray, Marla Sokoloff, and Marc Anthony Samuel in leading roles. This holiday film follows a young woman’s attempt to save her small-town venue by producing an all-male Christmas-themed show. In essence, it’s the traditional storyline but with a twist that brings Christmas Magic Mike to mind. I am genuinely excited to catch this one!

This week, the film titled “Joy” is making its way to Netflix on November 21st! The movie chronicles the development of in vitro fertilization (IVF) in the UK, with an ensemble cast including Thomasin McKenzie, James Norton, and Bill Nighy. The story follows a nurse, a scientist, and a surgeon as they strive to bring about the first “test-tube baby”, aiming to help millions of people. However, their efforts encounter significant opposition from various quarters such as the church, media, government, and medical community.

The story revolves around the Charles family as they grapple with the future of a cherished heirloom piano. However, this isn’t just about a mere piano; it delves into deeper themes such as legacy, history, slavery, and much more. Malcolm Washington is at the helm as director.
