Netflix Exec Says David Lynch Was Secretly Working on Miniseries

It’s been confirmed that Netflix’s co-CEO, Ted Sarandos, revealed that David Lynch had been developing a limited series with them before his passing on January 15 at the age of 78. This potential miniseries might have been Lynch’s final television project, marking a return to TV production following the creation of the mystery horror drama series “Twin Peaks,” which originally aired from 1990-1991 after more than three decades.

What did Ted Sarandos say about David Lynch’s Netflix minseries?

Ted Sarandos, in a heartfelt Instagram post, reminisced about his initial encounters with David Lynch when he was just starting out at Netflix. In this tribute, he disclosed that Netflix eagerly seized the chance to collaborate with Lynch, as soon as the director presented them with an idea for a limited series. He described this project as brimming with enigma and daring ventures. However, the production of this show had to be put on hold due to the pandemic and some health concerns surrounding Lynch.

David and I rarely communicated after that point, yet years down the line, he approached Netflix with a proposal for a limited series. This piqued our interest immediately, and given it was a David Lynch production – brimming with enigma and daring elements – we eagerly wanted to embark on this creative journey with him. Alas, Covid-19 struck first, followed by some health concerns that prevented the project from materializing. However, we made it clear that as soon as he was ready, we were all set to collaborate again.

The most recent chat I had with David was just as exciting as our very first one. He visited me at home accompanied by a friend and his musing influence, Laura Dern. We engaged in an extended, captivating discussion about various projects, cinema, life, art, and even my windows, which he admired greatly.
